Want to do something fun this summer?! Come to GEAR UP's
Disease Detective Camp!
Rising 7th and 8th grade camp:
Rising 9th grade camp:
Students will explore the spread of human diseases, plant diseases, and animal diseases. They'll learn about the math and science behind disease outbreaks, how to prevent illnesses, and how to get a career in public health. Students will also go on field trips and interact with healthcare professionals, and plant and animal specialists. It will be a very fun, informative, and interactive 5 day camp!
To learn more, come to the parent information meeting on at the East McDowell Junior High auditorium. If you cannot come to the meeting but would like more information, please call Brook Thompson at 828-803-4527.
7th and 8th grade families:
Please fill out this very short GEAR UP Survey. GEAR UP is a federally funded college access program in McDowell County Schools. It is a requirement of the grant that parents in the grades we serve fill out a survey about their knowledge of college, financial aid, and their child's goals. All responses are anonymous. Your input will help us determine what programs are needed in McDowell County. Thank you!
